TETHט

65-72

65Do good to your servant according to your word, LORD. 66Teach me knowledge and good judgment, for I trust your commands. 67Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I obey your word. 68You are good, and what you do is good; teach me your decrees. 69Though the arrogant have smeared me with lies, I keep your precepts with all my heart. 70Their hearts are callous and unfeeling, but I delight in your law. 71It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees. 72The law from your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold. (NIV)

PRAYERS: O Lord, in all that I have experienced, whether of grace or of suffering, you have only given that which is beneficial to me, in full agreement with the promises you have given in your word.  Your promises bind us together.

As you have brought me to desire and obey your will, give me discretion and knowledge that I would be wise in this obedience. I willingly place my trust in you for this, LORD, with all my intellect as well as with all my heart.

I am prone to wander, Lord, “prone to leave the one I love” as the hymnist reminds; I get distracted and resistant. I am as a “bullock unaccustomed to the yoke” (Jeremiah 31:18).  Until you put a mortal stop to my unlawful rebellions and the lusts of my wayward “flesh” by allowing me to experience the pain and consequences of them, I took advantage of your grace. I kicked against it in my heart; but your discipline has re-shaped me, and still shapes me well. You are all-good, and all that you do is good at all times; so keep me under your good discipline by your good law. I willingly choose your yoke.(Matthew 11:28-30)

Even as I walk with a clean heart before you, I am often falsely maligned, covered over by falsehoods and misunderstood; yet I will not turn from your discipline. I delight in it! The convicted hearts of those against you have no lifeblood for feeling, they are like insensate animals and they instinctively attack; but in their midst, I still find restful peace, and even joy all the more. It is actually good that I face these trials, for by them I am constantly instructed in and by your goodness and nearness and guidance. I actually chase after your teaching as a prize far more treasured than anything this world offers. You are life to me.

65 TETH. Bien has hecho con tu siervo, Oh Jehová, conforme á tu palabra.

66 Enséñame bondad de sentido y sabiduría; Porque tus mandamientos he creído.

(RVR)
