¹⁵³Look on my suffering and deliver me, for I have not forgotten your law. ¹⁵⁴Defend my cause and redeem me; preserve my life according to your promise. ¹⁵⁵Salvation is far from the wicked, for they do not seek out your decrees. ¹⁵⁶Your compassion, LORD, is great; preserve my life according to your laws. ¹⁵⁷Many are the foes who persecute me, but I have not turned from your statutes. ¹⁵⁸I look on the faithless with loathing, for they do not obey your word. ¹⁵⁹See how I love your precepts; preserve my life, LORD, in accordance with your love. ¹⁶⁰All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal. PRAYER: Heavenly Father! See my suffering, LORD; turn your gaze full upon me–do not look away as others do! Deliver me, for even now I do not give up on Your Word.  In your court of justice, plead my cause according to your promise; I am powerless and need you to redeem me from the grave. Give me the true life you hold out to me in your Word!

Though it looks otherwise, there is no salvation for the wicked who reject your word. I do not fear or revere them, for they will utterly fall.  But your tender mercies, O LORD, are great and everlasting; therefore I look to you alone for my very life according to your testimonies. My persecutors and those who fight against me abound and assail me, but still I do not turn to the right or the left from your law.  In fact, my soul is deeply grieved at their rejection of your commands. I tremble with the awesome consequences of your justice against the wicked; a holy zeal burns hot in my heart and I rebuke them with the truth of Your Word!

Think upon me then, Lord, and consider my heart you have tuned to love your commands (Deut 6:5; 10:12). I am desperate for the life that you give in your steadfast love and kindness.  From beginning to end, your word is faithful and true; I rest in every one of your righteous testimonies, for your word endures forever.
