Happy New Year: Prayer for 2024

O God, our Help in ages past,
 our Hope for years to come,
our Shelter from the stormy blast,
 and our eternal Home.

Under the shadow of Thy throne
 Thy saints have dwelt secure;
sufficient is Thine arm alone,
 and our defense is sure.

Before the hills in order stood,
 or earth received its frame,
from everlasting Thou art God,
 to endless years the same.

A thousand ages in Thy sight
 are like an evening gone,
short as the watch that ends the night
 before the rising sun.

Time, like an ever-rolling stream
 bears all its sons away;
they fly forgotten, as a dream
 dies at the op’ning day.

O God, our Help in ages past,
 our Hope for years to come,
be Thou our Guard while life shall last,
 and our eternal Home!

Our Father in Heaven, Thank you for your many gifts and blessings in our world and in our nations, communities, churches, families and private lives. Though we have lived through trying times, we have not received what our sin deserves. You have preserved us from more evil and destruction than we could have known. And you have brought us through to this turn of year.We live today in order to worship You and to bear up one another’s burdens in love. Forgive us of our sin today, Lord, and cleanse us that we may start the New Year clean before You. Guide us, Lord, with Your Word and Your Spirit, that we may follow You rightly and obey all that You have commanded us. Give us grace that we may be gracious, love that we may love, wisdom that we may counsel Truth, patience that we may endure all by faith. We need you desperately, Lord, and we are so happy to lean on Your All-Loving heart for that help. Bless Your Name, and may Your will be done throughout the earth, for Your Glory. In Jesus’ holy Name, Amen.
