BETH – ב
9-16
9How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. 10I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. 11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. 12Praise be to you, LORD; teach me your decrees. 13With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth.15I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. 16I will not neglect your word. (NIV) |
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, when I consider the plight of youth, when passions are strong and the choice is early made to satisfy them, I see that youth is unsteady and is filled with stumbling. How can they be made clean who fall? He chooses well who early enters the house of God and devotes himself to the study and practice of your word (Eccles. 12:1). I, too, have discovered my weakness and am in need of cleansing.
Therefore, with my whole heart I look for you, LORD. I ask you to discipline me with your word lest I stray from you and stumble, for your word alone purifies and safeguards my way. I secure your word in the sanctuary of my heart, not only by diligent study, but by acting upon its truth and experiencing its power, so that I will not grieve your heart with my sin. Give me power to act on all that you have given to me in counsel so that your word will take root and guide my life from the inside out.
You, O LORD, are high above all, for you alone are the well-spring of wisdom. Teach me! Frail as I am, your faithful counsel has come from my mouth. I will choose to proclaim only your word, for otherwise, I would walk in my own way and lead others astray. May it never be! There will never be a time I no longer need you!
The experience of your wisdom has brought me rejoicing, and I treasure it above all the world’s wealth, fame or honor. I will think long upon the principles you have laid down in your word; they shall be my constant companions. I choose your ways willingly and joyfully, beyond mere duty. With you as my constant Rabbi, I will not forget your law.

9 BETH.
(RVR)
