1Blessed are the “undefiled in the way”, who walk in the law of the Lord.  2Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. 3They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways. 4Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently. 5O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes! 6Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.  7I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgements. 8I will keep thy statutes: O forsake me not utterly.

Peace with God, and the joy of his favor, is with those who obey his word purely, not following after the world’s counsel or allurements. His favor rests with those who search out his word as one searches for the greatest treasure; not with pretense, weak faith, or partial obedience. They do not live in bondage to a life of sin, for the law of the Lordis their primary goal in life–their heart’s whole desire.

By voluntarily and intentionally obeying his counsel, sin loses its power. They grow in knowledge and understanding and are enabled to keep within the safeguards of His ways because of his great mercy (Psalm 32:2).

You, O LORD, have commanded all of us, your people, to diligently study your law, for by it we are no longer ignorant; we are less apt to go astray. How I need your Holy Spirit to guide me as I try to understand your law and apply it! Give me a heart to obey! Then I will be bold in standing firm to your word. Though the world mocks me, I will stand in it, for you alone are Truth.

As you mold my life according to the shape of your law, I will honor you before men and find peace and favor in your eyes. May my praises of your law be from a sincere heart, with no duplicity or self-indulgence. Still, on my own I am weak in this, O LORD. I need your help to remain faithful. In my time of trial, though I must wait for you in faith, do not be long in coming to me!
