ALEPH – א

1-8

1Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the Lord2Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart– 3they do  no wrong but follow his ways4You have laid down precepts that are to be fully obeyed. 5O that my ways were steadfast in obeying your decrees! 6Then I would not be put to shame when I consider all your commands7I will praise you with an upright heart as I learn your righteous laws. 8I will obey your decrees; do not utterly forsake me.  (NIV)

PRAYER:  Peace with You, my God, and the joy of your approval is with those who obey your word purely. That one does not follow after the world’s counsel or allurements. Your favor, Lord, rests with those who search out your word as one searches for the greatest treasure. They have no pretense, weak faith, or partial obedience. They are not hopelessly bound to sin, for your law is their primary goal in life–their heart’s whole desire, and they follow you in it.

By voluntarily and intentionally obeying your counsel, sin loses its power. They grow in knowledge and understanding and are enabled to keep within the safeguards of your ways because of your great mercy (Psalm 32:2).

You, O LORD, have commanded all of us, your people, to diligently study your law, for by it we are no longer ignorant; we are less apt to go astray. How I need your Holy Spirit to guide me as I try to understand your law and apply it! Give me a heart to obey! Then I will be bold in standing firm to your word. Though the world mocks me, I will stand in it, for you alone are Truth.

As you mold my life according to the shape of your law, I will honor you before men and find peace and favor in your eyes. May my praises of your law be from a sincere heart, with no duplicity or self-indulgence. Still, on my own I am weak in this, O LORD. I need your help to remain faithful. In my time of trial, though I must wait for you in faith, do not be long in coming to me!
