HETH/CHETHח

57-64

57Thou art my portion, O LORD; 58I intreated thy favour with my whole heart; be merciful unto me according to thy word. 59I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies. 60 I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments. 61 The bands of the wicked have robbed me; but I have not forgotten thy law. 62At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee because of thy righteous judgments. 63I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that keep thy precepts. 64The earth, O LORD, is full of thy mercy; teach me thy statutes.

My allotment in life, all that I live for, is to honor you, O Lord, with my obedience; I have committed myself to this.  I come into your presence in prayer with all that I am to receive your favor. Be merciful and grant me this, according to your promise to me. (Job 33:26; Prov. 8:35; Psalm 84:11)

I have thought long about my ways and, as a result, have chosen your expressed truth and not my own understanding.  I commit to be quick to obey what I find in your Word, no second thoughts, hesitation or delay; for procrastination and doubt are dishonoring to faith (Rom 7:15,18, 19).  Evil overcomes me, tempting, abusing, and robbing. When all help from you is not yet seen or experienced, even still I do not give up and act according to the evil that surrounds me; for your righteousness alone sets me free.

With a sincere heart, I wake in the secret hours of night to thank you for your righteous guidance, mercy and blessing. I love those who also revere and obey you; I pledge my support to them in unity and mutual care. The whole earth is full of the evidence of your love! Work out your law of love in me by helping me to obey it and keep me from the vanity of superficial knowledge to please men. For without your indwelling Spirit to teach me this inner discipline and fellowship, I would find myself outside the protection of your walls.  (Habbakuk 2:1)
